It must have been out for approaching twenty four hours now, surely? I was on last night when it happened, and I didn't go to bed too late.
I think it's been down for some 10+ hours once or twice before.
I do not recall it having ever been down for this long before. Given everything which has happened over there, it could well be done for another few days. One of the e-mail servers we use at work was (rather inexplicably) based on the East Coast and we've been told it'll be back up on Thursday at the very earliest.
This is the only time I can ever remember T2T being down. Has it ever gone down like this before? I feel... desolate. Caktash, Caktash I miss you!

I have always found it baffling that some people see this game, a multi user dungeon based on the works of JRR Tolkien, as a means of sexual gratification. I am by no means an expert, but I understand that the internet is full of sites which cater to any and all sexual proclivities. I genuinely can't get my head around why someone would login here and treat it as they would a dating sim. I am aware that many people, friends included, have met partners through the MUD. However, I do not think it's an exaggeration to say that the vast majority of such relationships end in abject failure. On a personal note, I often found it frustrating because the bitterness and hatred which stems from car crash relationships often leaked into the atmosphere of entire guilds and made them less fun places to be. It was a whole load of drama I could have done without.
In addition to the misguided but harmless types, there are also people whose behaviour toward female characters is frankly predatory. These are the kind of creeps who (a) drive female players away full stop or (b) force them to make male characters in order to avoid harassment. From what I've heard of Jessom, he falls somewhat squarely into this unfortunate category. I don't feel at all guilty about mocking or exposing such people as I feel they do genuine harm; not only to the MUD, but to the image and reputation of anybody with a penis that plays games over the internet.
I'm not offended by Kharaan because I don't think he's ever serious. I tend to think of him as a poor man's Nogothrim; both are players who are seemingly absent from the game but nonetheless delight in taking to the logpage and telling us how much it sucks nowadays and how we're all doing it wrong. Best taken with a pinch of salt.

I side with most people in this thread, and most are my friends (Phrixus..?). Mud weddings were never a thing for me, but I usually try not to judge. If someone wants to be heterosexual, homosexual, or onlinesexual, that is up to them. In fact, I have a few good friends that have wed someone on T2T for more serious reasons than just mockery of the institution mud wedding. However, I will admit that I do at times enjoy laughing to myself or amongst friends, or facepalming, when a couple of noobs are getting married. I believe that as long as none of the two getting married are Eaoden, Scorpion, or similar, then it is all fine. I'll chuckle, and they'll have a romantic séjour.
As to this particular log and this particular event, I've chuckled at the log, gossips and the comments. Including Kharaan's comments. But I am not sure if you guys are actually taking offense by Kharaan's posts... are you? I don't know if we interpret his posts differently, but given his style of communication over the last decade I do not find his posts here offensive.

On a lighter note, this log reminds me of the wonderful occasion when Otoron, Warrax and myself interrupted a MUD wedding by slaughtering the bride in two rounds. It sounds like overkill, but you can't take a chance when there are so many guests and so much healing on the ground. We tried to get Caber to hunt for us, but he was too much of a bleeding heart do gooder. In happier times, this wedding would have been concluded on similarly memorable terms. If you ask me, they got off lightly.
It's good to know that Winnetou, a prolific cheater who has probably killed several thousand people in his time here, has seen fit to take the moral high ground over what is essentially a few sarcastic gossips and a mail.
