I know you're trying to justify having your flag turned off, but I'd suggest that maybe you should just 'man up and play'?

Poor Formid, always in the wrong place at the wrong time. You are too inactive to understand the pvp flags, don't take part in this discussion.

But just to give you a hint:

Nowadays 'pvp on' is useless for the regular player. It makes you nothing but a target to random attacks.

Why would you pvp on? Because you want to kill a certain player, well, too bad you cant, he has pvp off. And if you pvp on, you only get a target painted on your back for those who turned pvp on to kill random players:) Pointless.

    1. 'Sadly, our story is different. We don't have real RPers, we have wankers. Wankers that got a great chance to do all their petty bullshit being protected by the system. '

    2. 'Fuck you all, maggots. Man up and play!'

Akhazir you are quite incorrect here, i am afraid. Usually you are right on the money, but this time you are wrong.

The PVP Flags were supposed to protect new players from being randomly killed. Ok, if not only new players, lowbie players. When the PVP flag was introduced, us, the people that actually play the game and dont spend hours reading stupid t2t forums or boring ainur suggestions, were left with the impression that PVP flags are a good thing.

I still think PVP Flags are one of the best things coded in the game. New players, especially nowadays, need to be valued and protected. Yet, they should be able to enjoy the game, the way ALL OF US did, including you Akhazir, and even Cruice.

This mud, the two towers, has been introduced EVERYWHERE as a PVP ENABLED mud. IT IS A PVP MUD, read it again! IT IS A PVP MUD!

If anyone does not like it, they can go play some RP mud, where you can't attack players.

Sadly, our story is different. We don't have real RPers, we have wankers. Wankers that got a great chance to do all their petty bullshit being protected by the system.

This mud can't survive without PVP. This mud was GREAT with PVP for over 15 years, because players were stimulated by ainur to PLAY THE GAME. Not to idle and curse and chat with each other. You can do that in an IRC channel. This is not a chatroom.

Fuck you all, maggots. Man up and play! 'whine i dont want to pvp' - Who the fuck asks you if you want to pvp or not? I don't want to grind like a madman to level up a character, but nobody asks me if I do. I also don't want some moron to steal my gold in mordor and then just 2knock on gates and be protected by the lawsys forever and ever. But nobody asks me if i do.

Ainur should stop advocating wimpyness and to start provoking players to actually play. I'd rather have 15 people online that actually play, than 100 that idle and curse all day.

You can't have both. A new player will adapt to the current system and will be a product of it. Just like Cruice and the herks are a product of the BP system.

    You reap what you sow...

It's a matter of opinion. Also, if it was thrown away it was mostly because of the current PKer activity. It wasn't done for the hell of it. Maybe if people didn't start a massive 'not-bug' abuse fest, targeting random players on the off chance that they might maybe be somebody's alt, or harassing people who got to a quest area first, there wouldn't have been enough support in Valinor to actually pass a PvP flag. If it's a bad thing, it's still a hole the PKers dug for themselves in the first place.

Winnetou, that's because this MUD had one of, if not the best, PvP systems on any MUD. Yet they threw it all away to make sure no one's feelings got hurt.

One other thing pisses me off: the very idea that you have to spend LOADS of time getting good eq. In old times it was just sufficient to have a hauberk, shield, pants, and an AESS or forgie + jerkies. Now you have to spend hours on getting poison, boosters, keys, etc...

I think what my bro is saying is that we didn't overexpose or overdo. Say, like Grimscar overdid backstab with Aiglos. It was a bit pathetic, killing people in one round with poison, you have to give it that. Tho I might also say it was just the way the system was organized that led to the current situation...

Does any ainur care?:P I miss old times.

  • Author
    Cruice [legacy]

I never abused anything. I used things that were coded for that purpose. Hmm, a poison that takes a high skill in alchemy to create and hard to figure out the ingrediants for it, AND does a lot of damage to players in PvP? Fuck yea I'm going to use it. Daywalker has people quest heartbreaker for him every boot so he can use it in PvP. It is the exact same situation, just different tools. If it was wrong to 'abuse' any poisons or buffs that were intentionally coded that way, then you need to get rid of all the swords and healing in the game because way too many people are abusing them.

Cruice yes, it was legal since it was not reported yet. You used anything on ANY attack. We also used some of the good stuff, but we didnt wave it around like a flag saying 'look at me im using this uber cool stuff'.

Evade was worse than 500 breaks for solo pk. Daywalker, just because I used things to make my attacks more affective and were legal, don't try and nock me for getting them removed. You and your 'friends' reported everything I did or used. Get over yourself.

winnetou, there were always a ton of breaks. the only thing involved was reading logs to see which ones were used most frequently so you'd know what would be triggered and then using something different when attacked.

  • Author
    Winnetou [legacy]
    At
    12 June 2011 11:45:12

yea, new breaks also meant you had to 10 man someone if you want to kill them (which we did, at some points) but I still had an attachment for solo kills...

  • Author
    Winnetou [legacy]

But probably the worst thing was the introduction of tons of new breaks. Took away the joy of anti-huntbreak triggers. Also, I think at some point there was less distinction between who is the good and the bad - i.e. powerful, and not so. But it may be just a contrast between my newbie days and my older days.

Cruice because of you and your ass buddies half of the good shit was removed from the game. Because you just couldn't help but using everything at every attack you make. So don't even bring the subject up.
