Dexter tells you: You will be crying when I talk to a ainu about it seeing that you broke some rules. Fucking whiners. Posting for gamb
Name was Morsul, and I will always remember it cause HIRGAIL came up with it. ahh hirgail...
i know and for that i apologize kozlodoev. but i have a good solution. you train your kid to be a t2t legend. start him playing now. get him his own laptop and start him on a char. we can party with him and help him level up and such and soon we can restart whatever that clan was that we had back in the day. cant remember the name but i think the theme was 'own noobs' or something awesome like that <3
Draimon, sir, you suck for not showing up like a year and a half ago instead of recently. I now got a kid and have no time for silly games :(
I try to enforce the rules fairly, and I'm not going to give you trouble for that. If you feel that I'm not doing so I sincerely apologize, and assure you that I do try my best to enforce the rules objectively and fairly.
And, believe it or not, I'm fairly sure I'm more lenient than many/most of my predecessors.
lmao. thats why trescothik is a fucking owner
I'm only kidding btw Tireless so don't fucking ban me as you usually do once every month or so. I just like putting shit on self-righteous people.
I now expect a novella pointing out all my misused spelling and grammatical indentations.
Being preached to about life skills by a fuckin 19 year old. Get Tireless a shoe contract and a podium.
Multiple re-installs of computers, change of email address (hence the loss of my paid zmud), the zmud cracks not working on Vista, cMud not importing the settings for my client well (the map loads, but totally gets lots very quickly).
I believe I still have it somewhere, just can't use it.
Arg Formid, what happened to your client dude? :(
I am actually unable to use my own (self created) client these days, yet frequently I'm still an automated bastard!
Yeah, guess he didn't have a mapper to protect him, huh?
in daywalker's defense trescothik. he wasnt on his regular client. he claimed he was on telnet then that was shown to be a lie. one shouldn't even need a huntbreak alias for that area anyways but i guess when you suck that bad maybe you do
-- on further review, it appears that the distinction involves diction or something like that: the only resource I could find on the topic (in a... 5 minute search) was identifying that proper conversational English and proper formal written English are not the same, and that 'good' English is the use of English appropriate (proper) for the context in which it's used.
I vehemently disagree with this assertion, and my qualifications are as good or better than the person making the claim.
Also, I don't think I 'frequently' point out grammar issues. I haven't proofread anyone's post in recent memory. I mean, I am able to hold a conversation with Pounder or Miroth without saying anything about it! (While I am quite sure that both of these individuals _could_ express themselves using good English, neither of them do.)
I'm ok with sounding like a condescending bastard sometimes. I'd rather pursue my objectives and look like a bastard than capitulate or ignore the issue.
Is there really a mechanical preference for 'proper English' over 'good English'? I welcome criticisms of my mechanics -- I'd like to improve my written English, and feedback is the only way to do that -- but I can't find any resource which identifies that 'good English' isn't correct.
Frequently pointing out trivial typing or gramatical errors, when it is really not what the thread\discussion\topic is about, allso makes you look like a real condescending bastard at times. :)
You mean you like proper English.
As usual, Shardik is right.
But seriously, getting in the habit of using good grammar is a valuable life skill. if u get used 2 typin lyk this u wil find it hrder 2 rite gud wen it matters if u no wat i meen?? Sometimes people aren't aware of or don't think about grammatical rules and as a consequence unintentionally make errors, so pointing them out should provide a resolution.
I really like good English.
Yes.
Wow... Do you really care that much about other peoples grammar? Or was that just to be an ass? :)
On the topic of the log...
'Dexter tells you: You will be crying when I talk to a ainu about it seeing that you broke some rules.'
Ainu begins with a vowel, so the article 'a' becomes 'an' -- any time it precedes a word beginning with a vowel or a silent 'h' you use 'an' - so 'I talked to an ainu' or 'I talked to an honorable ainu'.
Props for using the correct singular, though. Many people think 'ainur' is singular, for some reason.

daywalker should no doubt be on that bree idler list. he will idle in bree and then laugh when you first attack him. then quit later when he cant fade and cant figure out what else to do
Greatest log of all time? Not really. But good for a laugh. FUCK HE'S HUNTED ME THROUGH MIDGEWATER, WHAT DO I DO NOW? I QUIT AND SAY I DIDN'T QUIT AT ALL!
Only fatter
Obair jokes will never get old.
Obair jokes got old before the character Obair existed, or Tireless discovered T2T. He's been here for ages, and we've always made fun of him. It's a constant.
Cruice raises legitimate points; any culpability Dexter, Aryl or the rest may have relies on two things: That they did not receive feedback from Valinor indicating that what they were doing was ok and that they were the ones who initiated the practice.
I think the point that ought to have been raised is: The item (alchemy potions) is _bad_ as it was written and should have been fixed. The fact that it was given enough publicity to warrant being changed by Dexter using them is no more Dexter's fault than when SoU got bolas changed by getting publicity for (ab)using them.
--and Obair jokes got old about 2-3 years ago:(
I bet Obair could carry 1000+ healing in his anus.
I've reported Skyman for using these potions on more than one occasion. I was told that they are not 'bugs' or being abused in an in-proper way other than what they were meant for.
They are ridiculously stupid, and should be removed. There is already way too much healing available to people, and being able to have 600+, or however much, healing in your cloak, pack, or anus, is idiotic in my opinion.
On a side note, if Dexter and Aryl deserved to be nuked for using these, then everyone who has used them deserve to be. Skyman, Ararim[?] and others I'm sure.
Also, I don't think Gambrinus should be trying to 'out' someone on alchemy potion abuse. When he uses a different set of ingrediants intended for a +20 attack potion and can make 3 at a time instead of one, just as often. So would him running around with 160, 200, or more attack without a Morgoth vial be just as bad? I think it might be.
:\:\
I think it got kicked under the bed. Next time you're over here I'll return it to you, though we'll have to lose something else of yours so you have an excuse to come back.
WHERE IS MY CAMEO
Draimon, can I join your clan? I killed council first thing when I came back last month and wondered 'Where is the damn flask?!'
daywalker should no doubt be on that bree idler list. he will idle in bree and then laugh when you first attack him. then quit later when he cant fade and cant figure out what else to do
Top 5 bree-idlers of all time?
Mithgil
Celoril
Colven
Valdamir

throw in Toby for good measure.
I want a top 5 appearance :(
My very firstest top 5 appearance!
fucking emo-hate triple post
Top 5 mud emos nowadays:
Aryl
Quiauh
Melkor
Falgor
Kaden
Throw in Tireless as well.
and fuck the emo
emo? go fuck yourself
I'm joining Draimon's clan on my archer.
name the person who said this
'look at me im so freaking noob im in my pyjamas (sic) right now'
there is a prize
im starting a clan of useless has beens. our theme is that we talk about how good we used to be on the log page and make fun of the new guys because they own us on the game now. we are located in frams in the old sheriff guild where we emote things like disarms and fades. then we go kill glorfindel and say WTF where is the flask at? then we usually say morgai about 5-10 times per minute for nostalgia's sake. and when anybody suggest that we improve and learn the new parts of the game we act incredulous and quit responding. its a real blast
I'm too used to you being retired. And if you came back, I'd have to start playing more than 12h/mo to enjoy the glow of your sexiness.
Akhazir (whoever you are - hint?), sorry that was stupid of me; seeing my comment now, it looked a lot like bragging. Since you seem to have some knowledge in the area, my alchemy was 70 at that time (sidenote; if levelling it was insane, and I had 70...?). However, the point of my comment was not how high alchemy I or anyone else had, it was to whine about how an abusable thing that as Draimon put it could've been used in 'the most intelligent fashion' before being fixed, just ends up being public in this way, through a failure. I wanted it to be a new Fuingul-STS-Lockup-on-Udungul/Grapes-of-Wrath/Ithilien-Forest-Lockup(my highest top 20 log)/Oracle&Pounder-pounds-Beornings-on-BD-Stairs/Ravathir-Kill-4-with-2-in-BD-Dungeon. Take the last example, I killed his friends there before he produced that log, but because I didn't want to make it public over a simple solo lockup, I didn't post, hoping that I or someone else would make a killer log in that obviously highly unknown and unused location. In this case instead, we got as I commented earlier, this crazy cartoon scientist kid dying with all this potential unused, and degraded.
Draimon, I loved that list, and I am proud to be mentioned as 40% of the top five noobs of all times alongside with old TBG hasbeens. Well, and one polish emo. As for Kozlodoev, he plays very actively, close to Quiauh-actively. He's also close to Quiauh in his style of playing nowadays; a true suparstar.
Top five sexbombs of all time:
Kharaan
Avaar
Dreyboren
Quiauh
Woric
Throw in Aaron as well
Anywho, I am commenting, you guys should be begging me to come back! Are you too used of old retired useless hasbeens commenting on the log page that you're not seeing me?
kozlodoev old friend do ye still play
You weren't the only one with alchemy over 50, Alkath. That skill was insane to level back then, though. I doubt many were up there.
Alkath is a fucking useless has-been. Go away and stop annoying those of us that still play and contribute actively.
Yay, my first listing!
t5 noobs of all time
alkath
delrin
feasul
caine
borgrath
throw in brubaker as well
he wouldn't go busy
It wasn't as useable now Alkath, since he'd go busy trying to get his healing out of his cloak, and since it's only 20HP per busy round....
<3
Hey guys!
I'm dissapointed... I found this some 2.5years ago, being the only guy (with Kallisto) with over 50 in alchemy and one of few with over 20. I was thinking I'd one day use it to lock up some 4-5 people and kill them all. Before I got to that point, I realised that even with my good reputation, there was a fairly good chance someone would decide to nuke me for it, so I let it go. However, I was expecting that within the last 2.5 years, whenever someone would decide to use it and risk being nuked, they would at least go down in a highly stylish way, through pimpin' an entire party up in some lockup. Instead we get this log with some cartoon character dying with all of this healing, all of this potential, unused, and the party of three surviving.
Meh.
Either way, lots of love.
*fdl* Funny log.
Anonymous figure eats a bunch of juicy green grapes.
Damn i miss fade :(
Hmm, if I got a warning and leprosy for abusing* finds as a PT then I sure as hell hope those cunts get some sort of punishment.
*I did like 5 or something out of sheer boredom while drunkhealing.
Cool, thanks.
Norin, look at the all time top 20 logs, search for the Grapes of Wrath.
Link the 'Goober' log? :)
I wonder if Dexter is the same noob I used to bitch slap all over EoTW. BTW. Hai guys!
an immortal would never abuse something like that
Correct me if i'm wrong, but didn't Goober code those grapes himself?
Is clearly the best player in the history of the MUD, and everyone else is just jealous.
33 potions. 20 healing each. 660HP worth of healing and he still died. Not only is this absurd and abusive, but anyone that dies with that much healing...
I referenced the goober log like 20 posts ago :(.
I think the big oversight here is that those potions weren't meant for healing at all. Apparently they just had a stock healing value and nobody actually considered the fact that somebody might want to you know, drink 40 awareness potions in a row.
Having been up there as an ainur, I'm sorry, but I just don't believe that something like that (which has been in similar lengths of time to the time I was up in Valinor) takes up no space and that noone thought that being able to stuff 30+ of them into a BS cloak (which I suspect means that they took up no space at all, or max 1). Or that having them not fill you up enough not to drink 30+ of them wasn't looked at.
Those are BASIC things in the game when addressing balance, especially hand healing/packable healing which in the same timeframe got an overhaul.
Someone up there really fucked up bigtime, and it's not just one someone, there used to be something called code review. Either that or someone up there did want to abuse and it didn't get spotted (it wouldn't be the first time).
Especially when, 10 years down the line, we now know the kind of things which are abuseable and what players are likely to do. Hell, one of the favourite logs over the last 10 years is Goober Vs Adunazon showing a similar issue.
And I don't ever remember being locked up in Bd dungeon with Gambrinus and you either.
I've never used those potions, thanks though.
haha, pathetic
*Mathias pets Dexter lovingly on the head.*
03/08/10 - Mathias:
In the alchemy world, potions will (as a whole) fill up your
stomachs and your pockets more than before.
Then you must be the first to die with 33 of 'em in a pack! What a herkie!
I done gone use them potions up all day.
The first person to use them potions against me in PK was Skyman, then ararim used them when i locked him and gambo up in BD dungeon and it saved his life. So the way I see it is, stfu and stop being a bitch. You all complain so much.
The code wasn't written by castamir, neither Castamir's mortal abused it. Esteban, you probably don't have a clue about that and you're just trying to hopelessly defend your herkie friends.
No, if that's the case it will just make my statement self-defeating.
Aryl and Rav were among the first to know about it, so I hope you're ready to concede that you just complimented them ;)
It is clearly abuse, I think the only reason it's still in game is because for a long time only people with some ounce of subtlety or intelligence knew about it, and didn't go around abusing it.
And Goober was just using those grapes in the most intelligent fashion, too, right?
Every legitimate method of healing in the game provides healing within a set range -- if you're healing exclusively through eating stuff that can be packed, around 150-250. (I'm relatively sure that bota is the most efficient packable healing, though I could be wrong). This packable healing heals for 620 before full (Does Gamb have max stats? If not, even more efficient). That's between 2x and 4x more efficient than the next best competitor -- there is a legitimate case to be made for it being abuse.
Though, if it's not abuse, seems to me that everyone will have to stock up on these and bot alchemy up in order to remain competitive in the PK field. To be clear, I would not be surprised if this were the case.
No, it's the old way of saying you found something that when used a certain way provides grossly unbalanced benefits to you that were never intended by the coder.
Ask someone why you instantly die if you go linkdead while falling!
no Draimon, we're using the same old concept of abuse, it fits pretty well in this case.
is abuse the new way to say using something to your advantage in the most intelligent fashion
These things were reported during GB-SoU war, but Castamir's mortal was abusing(?) these and they were not fixed nor removed...
To be more clear, this alchemy code was written by Castamir...
Oh I know, just wanted to add that we need that limitation in place as well
Shabba's idea is interesting. But i'm more concerned about the abusers. No matter if this issue is fixed, they are probably abusing other stuff and will keep doing so. that's their way.
Shabba, that fix would be good for the immediate problem but without addressing the recipe system itself people will still search through the code to find easier recipes. All advantage is on cheaters.
Alchemy has its uses and it'd be better than it is now if the recipe system wasn't so random. If they just gave them fixed recipes, only x, y and z brewed together would create it, then we wouldn't have a balance problem. They could make the ingredients spawn every 45 minutes for the better potions.
The attack and healing potions in Kadar were balanced in this way. One of the ingredients was semi so you could only brew one at a time. Somebody went hunting through the code and found an alternative ingredient for that semi one, though, and there's a recipe floating around out there now that lets you brew many at once.
Fix: You can only drink one tradeskill potion every few minutes.
I like your ideas Akhazir. The Alchemy system is a very cool aspect of the game, and yet another reason i regret never maxing a Bounty Hunter back in the day when it was all prof skill based.
Tradeskill grinding is one thing that does not appeal to me at all, but it is a necessary evil if i want to have fun with alchamy nowdays though. *sadface*
Or even better, remove herkies and the tradeskills system.
1. Give the potions quests.
2. Make an alchemy book autoload you get when you get the tradeskill.
3. Complete a quest, recipe is noted in the book. You can only brew recipes written in it.
4. Make each potion use a specific recipe, not the system used now.
This would make it so you have to know the quest and can't just grind up the skill overnight and brew countless potions. It keeps it somewhat secret so once a person obtains a potion you brewed, they can't just look at it and know how to make it themselves. Not having the recipe in the alchemy book, you'd get the 'You can't quite tell how to put these together.' fail message. Having a specific recipe for each potion will also end the complete advantage players with the code have over everybody else as well as keep things balanced. Overpowered potions would have rare ingredients that are not so easy to obtain. Keep them semi, in a way.
Of course there's 20 or more different potions you can brew, so making quests for them might not be all that easy (unless done like the Kadar assassin).
Esteban was seen abusing those potions also.
Alchemy! :)
can someone explain these potions to me?
If they don't get nuked for that, Valinor can fuck off.
I heard of those potions ages ago, i wonder why they can still be used like that. Quite imba.
it's some sinus
Who is 'gamb'? :(
If using those potions that way isn't a form of abuse (since it's clear they weren't intended to work that way) i don't know what it is. If ainu decide to nuke 'em for it, I'll provide a log of Aryl abusing 'em too.
